Abstract:
Knowledge is an organizational asset that must be created and managed to generate long-term competitive advantage. The true economic value of knowledge management(KM) as an organizational sustainable competitive advantage hinges on the process of converting tacit knowledge into usable explicit knowledge that subsequently integrate to the real business process. This presentation discusses the influence of knowledge management processes on the overall business performance of an interlinked, franchised educational organization in Malaysia. A performance management framework was used to develop the business process oriented knowledge road map for enhancing the knowledge transfer. Questionnaire survey reflected that the knowledge environment of the case learning centers supported knowledge management application. However, analysis of the various key performance indices indicated that KM alone may not improve the overall business performance of the learning organization. But it can facilitate the handling and sharing of knowledge that improve the management effectiveness of the case learning organization. By doing so, it eventually assists the organization in implementing major initiatives for the pursuant of continuous growth.
